The Flag-off Ceremony of a 11 days Study Tour Programme “Discovering India with SSB” comprising of 20 girls of Indo-Nepal bordering areas of West Sikkim and West Bengal under SSB Frontier Siliguri organized by 36th Bn. SSB, Geyzing today in presence of Sh. B.K. Pal, DIG SHQ Gangtok as Chief Guest.
The programme was kicked off by lighting of inaugural lamp by Shri B.K. Pal, DIG SHQ Gangtok . While addressing the programme Sh. R.N. Mishra, Comdt 36th Bn. highlighted the history and present role of SSB at Indo Nepal Border. SSB jawans performing border guarding duty being away from their family.
Speaking on this occasion, the Chief Guest, Shri B.K. Pal, DIG SHQ Gangtok said that this study tour would be golden opportunity to all the girl’s student in terms of exposure and learning of the rich cultural heritage of our great country. He further, urged the participants of this study tour should take the most benefit from this tour and whatever good knowledge they gain should implement for making their career and future brighter. Shri Pal added that apart from its mandate duties, SSB is regularly serving the local people of border areas. In the prime times of need they are always helpful towards the people of border villages of West Sikkim.
The 20 girls will visit historic and other important places at Delhi & Agra under the study tour programme. On 23rd December, they will have an interaction with the Director General SSB on the occasion of 55th Anniversary of SSB. (PIB)
