Three months long programme on “manufacturing of farm tools and equipment” was started from today here at College of Agricultural Engineering and post harvest technology (CAEPHT)at Ranipool, East Sikkim. The programme was organized by College of Agricultural Engineering and post harvest technology (CAEPHT) at Ranipool, East Sikkim and sponsored by Power Finance Corporation Ltd.
On the occasion Dean of CAEPHT Professor R.P Mishra was present as a chief guest and Executive Engineer Government of Sikkim Solami Lepcha and Professor SN Yadav were guest of honour.
Addressing the gathering chief guest Mishra informed that there is not available equipment in market. He also elaborated the skills planned to be developed during three months programme. After completion the training farmers can open workshop. Government will provide loan, subsidy and grant, said Mishra.
He further mentioned that they have trained above 650 farmers till now and among them some success to established and earning lot of money.
Similarly professor SN Yadav Course Director presented the orientation of the three months programme and its national importance. He said that skill development programme has been starts since three years under the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Through this programme youths and farmers will be self reliant.
Executive Engineer Solami lepcha in her address requested the participants to develop the skill which will be useful to them and to the Sikkim. She said that farmers are still doing farming in tradition way but time has changed so that they have to change their way and use machine to product farming. People should not depend on government job, she added.
On the occasion around 35 farmers will be participate from North East including Sikkim.
