First Sikkim Christmas Festival 2019 on ‘Peace, Love & Harmony’ kicked off with much enthusiasm at MG Marg in the capital from today.
The two day festival is being organized by all churches of Sikkim. The pre Christmas celebration will have a series of musical, cultural and other activities.
DR Thapa, MLA, Upper Burtuk was present as the Chief Guest of the program along with the presence of Shakti Singh Choudhary, Mayor, Gangtok Municipal Corporation. TT Bhutia, Secretary, Tourism and Civil Avaition was also present in the program.
Chief Patron, Satish Rai while addressing at the function stated that all churches have come together to give a real Christmas taste to the people that such a grand program has been organized in Gangtok.
He further thanked CM Pawan Chamling and government of Sikkim for supporting the event.
Anju Panth, popular singer from Nepal entertained the audience with her popular numbers.
To showcase local talents and to give a message of God’s love to all people of Sikkim is the motive behind the festival, he added.
Many Choir performances enthralled the audiences with riveting numbers.
All denominations of Christianity including Roman Catholic, Protestant along with its varied factions have taken part in this grand function.
Many singers and dancers performed in the function.
MLA DR Thapa wished everyone a merry Christmas and stated that under the leadership of CM Chamling all religions and denominations enjoy equal rights.
The program had a lively performance from popular singer from Nepal, Anju Panth.
