Need to promote Khadi among the rural masses for sustainable livelihood: Guv

Governor of Sikkim, Ganga Prasad today visited Sikkim Khadi and Village Industries Board at Deorali, Gangtok. He was accompanied by Mayor Gangtok Municipal Corporation, Shakti Singh Chaudhari on the occasion.

Governor of Sikkim, Ganga Prasad today visited Sikkim Khadi and Village Industries Board at Deorali, Gangtok. He was accompanied by Mayor Gangtok Municipal Corporation, Shakti Singh Chaudhari on the occasion.

On arrival at SKVIB Bhavan at Deorali, Governor was received by Chief Executive Officer, SKVIB GyurmieYousal and other officials of the board. The CEO  apprised the Governor about the initiatives and activities being carried out by the board in the State. Governor  was then escorted to the stalls of Khadi products prepared by various units in the State.

In a brief interaction with the officials of the board, Governor stressed on the need to promote Khadi among the rural masses as a sustainable means of  livelihood and said that Khadi is a symbol of our economic self-reliance and independence. Khadi being directly related to the rural artisans and entrepreneurs, must be developed with holistic approach and proper marketing strategies for the products prepared, Governor further said.

Earlier on the day, Governor also paid a visit to MG Marg Gangtok and interacted with the traders.
