The organizing committee of Pathibhara Marathon and Mechi Prayatan Mahotsav 2020 has invited devotees and people from Sikkim to be the part of the Mahotsav to be held from 21 to 25 December at a popular pilgrimage site, Pathibhara in Taplejung district in Nepal. The five-day-long festival has a series of national and international level religious, sporting, cultural and other events.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, convener of the organizing committee, Tara Nath Ghimire mentioned that the committee has been organizing this festival since last 18 years at Pathibhara. He informed that Pathibhara was a very popular pilgrimage site and also known for its natural beauty. He added that Pathibhara has been receiving around 3 lakhs of tourists every year in which the fourth highest numbers were from Sikkim mainly to offer prayers. “In this regard, we have come here to welcome pilgrims and people from Sikkim to be the part of the Mahotsav. It would be a wonderful experience for them to be part of the various events in the festival,” he said. It is informed that the committee has also invited the Chief Minister PS Tamang to the festival. Mr Ghimire informed that the festival will have a massive Kalash Yatra of around five kilometers at Taplejung Bazaar and an international marathon for men and women was another important highlight of the five-day-long festival. He mentioned that the area has lots of tourist interest places with a majestic view of Mount Kanchenjunga from very close. The five-day-long festival will have cultural and musical events, an exhibition of organic and local produces, food festivals, sports events and other series of activities. The organizers have also arranged free transportation for pilgrims from outside Nepal from Taplejung Bazaar to Pathibhara during the festival
