JEET – “Joint Effort to End TB” an initiative of Stars of Hope under organised a day long sensitization programme on the theme “Let’s Learn TB” at Seminar Hall, Nar Bahadur Bhandari Degree College, Tadong on 18th August.
The event was meant to aware and educate a selected group of people that included students, members and volunteers of SOH about Tuberculosis and importance of its elimination from our state and about Mental Health.
Stars of Hope officially launched JEET initiative and officially unveiled the logo of JEET on the said program.
Besides one of the initiatives under JEET viz. STOP TB was also launched.
Guest of honour cum one of the resource persons for the event, Dr. Nirmal Gurung, Assistant Program Officer, State TB Cell Sikkim cum Chief Project Adviser, JEET gave an exhaustive talk on TB : Signs, Symptoms, Treatment and Prevention.
Dr. Satish Rasaily, who graced the programme as a guest of honour cum resource person gave an impact full talk on Mental Health.
Nirmal Manger, Editor-In-Chief, Sikkim Chronicle, who being from the media spoke about the responsibility and role of mass media communication in eliminating TB.
Bikash Thapa, Founder-Chairman, Stars of Hope cum CEO, JEET briefed everyone about the initiative JEET and highlighted the role of Youth and Stakeholders in Elimination of TB from Sikkim.
Dr. Bina Pradhan, Principal, NBBDC, Tadong, who was present as chief guest while talking on the event appreciated the initiative of SOH and further requested SOH to carry out such programme for the students of NBBDC, Tadong in days to come.
Kshittiz Chettri, Dean of Student Affairs, NBBDC cum Chief Adviser, SOH and Dr. Ajay Chettri, Assistant Professor (Geography), NBBDC who were present as special guests while talking on the said event appreciated the event.
The said event was supported by State TB Cell Sikkim and Nar Bahadur Bhandari Degree College, Tadong.
Stars Of Hope is a Gangtok based Social Organisation formed in the year 2015 and since its formation, it has been making contributions in various fields that includes Social, Environmental, Educational and Health.
SOH initiated its work in the field of Health from last year with the initiative #WeCanTalkSikkim under which a helpline number was launched to fight against the Suicides, Sexual Harassments and Depression.
JEET is the new initiative of SOH which is a state level initiative and will work against TB and its elimination from the state under the guidance of State TB Cell Sikkim.
